Australian New Zealand Banking Corporation (commonly known as ANZ) is an international full service bank and, alongside Commonwealth, Westpac and National Australia Bank, one of the “big four” banks of Australia. ANZ has incredibly extensive operations all across Australia and a history stretching back into the 19th century, before Australia was even a country. It is also a full service bank capable of handling any client from retail to big institutions. Thus as you expect, ANZ has a wealth of home loan products.

ANZ has won slews of awards for their home loans from publications such as Money Magazine and AFR Smart Investors Magazine. As expected of a bank of such size, ANZ provides good and reliable service with their teams of loan specialists. Because of their size, ANZ is also able to offer very flexible home loan products so that borrowers can take whichever product most suitable for them, from the basic Simplicity Plus loan which offers a competitive rate (7.10% pa at the time of writing) and no annual fee (though with a onetime $600 application fee. Like most major lenders ANZ also offers both a variable rate loan which grants you flexibility in the amount you pay and the interest is fixed to the market interest, and a fixed rate loan which locks you in to an interest rate for a predetermined period, as of the time of writing this article – one year at 6.39% p.a and 10 years at 7.69% p.a.

As of the time of writing, ANZ is also offering the ANZ Breakfree home loan package, this is a loan package that gives you a 1.00% pa discount on variable interest rates for the first three years, or a 0.15% pa discount on fixed rates. And best of all, the annual fee is low ($375) and currently waived.

ANZ has been rated the best mortgage lender in Australia for 11 years in a row, and whilst ratings aren’t perfect, they’ve got to be doing something right, right?
